The Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Coalition (VIRWC) is the peak representative advocacy body for immigrant and refugee women in the state. The VIRWC is affiliated with national and international women’s networks whose goals are to empower women to become ‘change agents’ of society.

About the Artist


Riza Manalo

Born in the Philippines, Riza Manalo expresses her concern for the environment and social issues through her work. Whilst living in New York she experimented on various media and explored the issue of isolation and migration across borders in her installations. Her video ‘Homebound’ has won three International awards for best experimental film. Her work has been shown in many exhibitions and film festivals in the Philippines and abroad.

Today, Riza lives and works in Melbourne, Australia and has worked with different non for profit organizations in community arts based projects and theatrical presentations.
